Hi
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. As you view my portfolio and take a glimpse of my work, I’d like to take a minute of your time to introduce myself, the artist behind the pictures you see. Not only am I a photographer but I also have a full-time career. I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I pride myself in being kind and compassionate and always willing to help others.
I have been taking pictures of friends and family for years and have had a love for photography for as long as I can remember. I finally took the step to turn my favorite hobby into a business in 2022. The name, A Lily In May Photography, is near to my heart. I chose the name with deep consideration to honor and pay tribute to areas of my life that are very special to me.
I have studied SLR (film) and DSLR photography and processing. I first started academic studies in film photography. I developed negatives into prints in a darkroom studio. I have entered into photography competitions for my work in film. I also studied digital photography throughout college, receiving academic credit for my studies and work. There is where I learned most about what I know today. Starting from high school and into my college years, I worked for big retail corporations, known specifically for their services in photography equipment and services. Those experiences increased my knowledge on different brands, cameras, lenses, equipment, services, and product development tools. I also continued working in a lab, but moved to a digital-focused lab, instead of a darkroom.
Fast forward 10+ years, and my love for photography hasn’t wavered. I never put down my camera. In fact, I went from SLR, to DSLR, to mirrorless! You’ll still probably see me posting hobbyist shots to my social media since even when I’m not with a client I still enjoy taking pictures. My niche is portrait photography. I love capturing candid shots, but there’s something about a posed style. I specialize in working in outdoor environments and natural spaces, if you have a different vision in mind, I can still work with you to create that.
